College of St. Benilde head coach Macky Carino lashed out at his wards after the first set when the Lady Blazers went behind early.
Veterans Ranya Musa and Rachel Austero responded to spark the Lady Blazers’ 18-25, 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 comeback win against Technological Institute of the Philippines to close their campaign in Group B of the inaugural Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan on Saturday.
“Sobrang relaxed (sa first set),” said Carino.
The Taft-based squad regrouped just in time to clinch their only win in five games, while sending the Lady Engineers to a 0-5 finish.
Graduating player Musa scored 19 points with all but one coming off attacks while converted open spiker Austero finished with 17 for the Lady Blazers. Felicia Cui added 10 markers with 15 digs for CSB, which gave TIP 47 points off its errors.
Alyssa Layug had 12 points while Ashley Jinon and Jade Gentapa combined for 17 markers for the Lady Engineers.
