Defending champion Creamline opens its repeat bid on Sunday in an early clash with another top title contender in PetroGazz in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Reinforced Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Opening serve is at 4:00 p.m. and will air live on ABS-CBN S+A Channel 23, ABS-CBN S+A HD Channel 166, LIGA SkyCable Channel 86, LIGA HD SkyCable Channel 183, iWant and via livestream.
Prized hitter Alyssa Valdez and top setter Jia Morado are back for the pink and white as they try to lead the Cool Smashers to its third straight crown.
Creamline will also welcome its newest additions in Far Eastern University stars Heather Guino-o, Celine Domingo and playmaker Kyle Negrito as they join holdovers from last season Michele Gumabao, Melissa Gohing, Pau Soriano, Risa Sato, Jema Galanza, Coleen Bravo, Rizza Mandapat, Fille Cainglet-Cayetano, Kyla Atienza and Rose Vargas.
Thai import Kuttika Kaewpin is back for her third straight tour of duty with debuting Venezuelan reinforcement Ale Blanco. The Cool Smashers will also have a new coach in Chinese mentor Huanning Li, who replaced Thai tactician Thai Bundit.
The Angels also beefed up its roster after getting the services of middle blocker Jeanette Panaga and spiker Jovielyn Prado.
PetroGazz also tapped a familiar import in American open spiker Janisa Johnson, who played with BaliPure last year.
Johnson averaged 20.4 points per game and led last year’s conference with a 56.38% efficiency in reception.
Johnson will be backed by Cuban national team wing spiker 6-foot-2 Wilma Salas.
Returning for the Angels are local stars Stephanie Mercado, Cherry Nunag, Jessey de Leon, setters Djanel Cheng and Chie Saet, Cai Baloaloa, Alyssa Layug, Jonah Sabete, Rica Enclona and last year’s Best Libero Cienne Cruz.
