Newcomer ChocoMucho will be packing a lot of energy and passion into every game come its debut in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference on August 11.
“Our edge will be our passion. Our edge will be our energy. Our edge will be our intensity,” said head coach Oliver Almadro on Thursday night in the official team launch of the Flying Titans at the Joy-Nostalg Hotel in Pasig City.
ChocoMucho is one of the three new teams in the league alongside Air Force and Chef Classic, and will join reigning Reinforced Conference champion PetroGazz, sister-team Creamline, PacificTown Army, BanKo, Motolite and BaliPure.
Bannering the purple-clad Flying Titans, the second Rebisco squad in the PVL after two-time champion Creamline, will be former Ateneo de Manila University Lady Eagles Kat Tolentino, Bea De Leon and Maddie Madayag.
The ‘Big 3’ will be backed by a solid crew of young and veteran players in another former Lady Eagle in Kim Gequillana, University of Perpetual Help’s Cindy Imbo, setter Acy Masangkay, Carla Sandoval and Dianne Ticar.
Also beefing up the squad are the core of the defunct United Volleyball Club led by Shang Berte, Bang Pineda, Arianna Angustia, Gyra Barroga, Dancel Dusaran, Shannen Palec and Erika Alkuino
“You know how Maddie plays, how Kat plays, how Bang Pineda plays. They're really up to the challenge,” said Almadro.
“Every practice, I see what they're doing. Expect that these players will live up to expectations and we'll really be Titans during the games,” he vowed.
The team started practicing together last July 1.
“It's not yet that long, but of course, most of the players are coming from my system in Ateneo and Bang Pineda is not new to me. Naging player ko na siya before sa isang club team in V-League also, Kia nung may Kia pa,” Almadro said. “Even though we are just two months here, I'm sure that we will be playing our best. We will be better than our best.”
