ChocoMucho rid itself of a five-game skid in a 32-34, 25-12, 23-25, 25-18, 15-11 squeaker over a determined Chef's Classics side on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Season 3 Open Conference at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center in Bulacan.
Kat Tolentino exploded for 36 points with 28 coming off attacks including the game-clinching backrow kill that ended the long agony of the Flying Titans, who welcomed the debut of middle blocker Bea De Leon after missing the rest of the first round to get back in top form.
Tolentino landed five aces and had three kill blocks to deliver ChocoMucho's third win in nine outings and complete an elimination round sweep over the winless Lady Red Spikers.
The Flying Titans turned the tables around in the fourth set to comeback from a 1-2 match deficit. ChocoMucho broke open a tight, 5-4, fifth set with three straight points and maintained enough cushion to turn back Chef's Classics.
Shannen Palec had 13 markers while Kim Gequillana and Erika Alkuino got 12 and 10 markers, respectively, for ChocoMucho, who hammered 65 attack points behind Acy Masangkay's 44 excellent sets.
Nieza Viray tried to rally the Lady Red Spikers but all her efforts weren't enough to save her squad from falling to 0-10 win-loss card.
Viray got 18 markers with 17 coming off kills while Iris Oliveros got 17 markers off 11 spikes, four kill blocks and a pair of aces for Chef's Classics.
