Filipina tennis player Alex Eala managed an impressive runner-up finish in the 2019 ITF World Super Junior Tennis Championships, which ran from October 14-20 in Osaka Japan.
Eala, 14, ran through the competition, defeating Japan's Erika Matsuda in the first round, and followed that up with a 6-0,6-2 win over Japan's Manami Ukita in the second round.
The Filipina tennister was once again dominant in the third round, defeating Russia's Diana Shnaider, 6-1, 6-3 to earn a spot in the quarterfinals.
Thailand's Punnin Kovapitukted gave Eala a tough test in the quarters, but the Filipina prevailed in three sets to move on ot the semifinals against Germany's Mara Guth. Eala returned to her dominant ways in the semis, dispatching Guth in two sets, 6-3, 6-4, to advance into the finals.
In the culminating match, Eala put up a valiant effort but ultimately fell short to France's Diane Parry, 6-2, 6-4.
