University of Sto. Tomas fourth year hitter Sisi Rondina has been hot on offense with just two games in the 80th UAAP women’s volleyball tournament.
The high-leaping spikers’ energy and power is a joy to watch and in two outings, Rondina is already averaging 24 points per game.
Rondina scored 20 points Wednesday in the Espana-based squad’s 25-17, 25-15, 25-21 win against listless University of the East for UST’s first win in two outings.
But the 5-foot-6 open spiker doesn’t want the Tigresses to be just a one-woman team on offense, she stresses the importance of having her teammates involved.
“Siyempre hindi,” said Rondina when asked if she wants the role of being the team’s go-to offensive option.
Rondina debuted with 28 points anchored on 25 kills in UST’s 20-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-15, 8-15, loss to grand slam-seeking De La Salle University last Saturday.
But compared to their first game where Rondina was backed by Fil-Italian rookie Milena Alessandrini’s 18 points, against UE she was the only UST player in double figures.
Rondina led the Tigresses’ comeback for a 10-12 deficit in the third set to send the Lady Warriors to its second straight loss.
UST will face Ateneo de Manila University on Sunday.
