8:00 AM - FEU vs. Ateneo (Men’s)
3:00 PM - DLSU vs. UE (Men’s)
5:00 PM - NU vs UST (Men’s)
With the Final Four cast set, all that’s left to do now is battle for positioning, and three teams try to better their standing as the UAAP Season 80 Men’s Football tournament reaches its second to the last eliminations match day on Sunday at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium.
Looking to capture their fourth-straight win, defending champions Ateneo de Manila take on Far Eastern University, who are looking to finish off their season on a positive note.
Currently sitting at second with 28 points, Ateneo makes one last push to end on top of the standings for the second-straight year, and a getting the maximum points in their final two outings will do just that.
Following a hard-fought draw against UP, FEU takes on another Katipunan-based squad with the hopes of producing a similar result, or better yet, a win.
In their first round encounter, Ateneo edged out FEU in a high-scoring 4-3 win.
While Ateneo tries to seize the top spot in the standings, De La Salle University and University of Santo Tomas are also jousting for the third seed as they close out their eliminations campaigns against University of the East and National University, respectively.
After last Thursday’s results that saw DLSU beat NU and UST beat UE, the Green Archers and Growling Tigers secured their spots in the semifinals and effectively eliminated the Red Warriors and Bulldogs from playoff contention.
What’s left to decide is the seeding, with UST currently sitting at third place with 22 points and DLSU at fourth with 20 points.
A win for both will keep their seeding as it is, while a DLSU win and a UST loss puts the Taft-based ahead.
In the event of a tie on points, UST likely remains at third thanks to a significant lead in goal difference.
DLSU edged out UE in their first round matchup, 3-2, while NU and UST battled to a scoreless draw early in the season.
