On the backs of Jerrick Ahanmisi and Papi Sarr, Adamson University is back to its winning ways in the UAAP 81 Men’s Basketball Tournament.
Ahanmisi did damage from the perimeter while Sarr did the heavy lifting inside the paint as the Soaring Falcons dominated National University from start to finish for a 69-58 decision on Wednesday at the MOA Arena.
Coming off back-to-back losses, Adamson was nothing but determined to get back on track. “Those two games we lost, it was like a pothole,” head coach Franz Pumaren said.
That much was evident in both Ahanmisi and Sarr who combined for 25 points in just the first half.
Their opponents, on the other hand, were only able to muster 23 in the same time frame.
Dave Ildefonso waxed hot in the third quarter to close the Bulldogs to seven points, but was rebuffed by who else but Ahanmisi and Sarr.
In the end, Ahanmisi had 21 points and three rebounds while Sarr had a 16-marker, 11-rebound double-double.
Sean Manganti also added 11 points of his own as the Soaring Falcons swooped back into a share of first now at 6-2. “We are still going to continue with this journey, we are still going to continue playing consistent basketball,” coach Franz said
They are tied with Ateneo de Manila University in the standings, but by virtue of win over the other rule, Adamson is technically first
NU is yet to get a win run going, now falling to 2-6. Super rookie Dave Ildefonso was the lone bright spot for them with 21 points and six rebounds.
John Lloyd Clemente, coming off a career game the last time around, only had five points in this one.
