Putting their painful UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball campaign behind, the power-hitting duo of Isa Molde and Tots Carlos now set their eyes on the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.
The University of the Philippines stars will join newcomer Motolite when the third season of the import-laden tournament opens shop next month.
“Big opportunity kasi ‘yung mga makakalaro namin veterans na so marami ka talagang matututunan,” said Carlos, who scored 13 points in the Lady Maroons’ 20-25, 23-25, 19-25, loss to Adamson Lady Falcons at the close of their campaign on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Also joining Molde and Carlos are UP teammates Ayel Estanero and Marist Layug. The Lady Maroons stars will reinforce a Motolite squad bannered by veteran spiker Myla Pablo, setter Fhen Emnas and libero Jellie Tempiatura.
“It’s a good thing I’m with Isa and Ayel kasi hindi ako mag-isa sa bagong team so sama-sama kami maga-adjust,” added Carlos.
UP came up short of making it into the Final Four for the third straight year after closing the season with a 6-8 win-loss record at fifth spot.
For Molde, the experience that they will gain in the club league will help them prepare for next season’s collegiate wars if they decide to play their last and final eligibility year.
“Siguro kasi with Ate Myla sa team yung leadership niya siguro makukuha namin yun,” said Molde, who ended her fourth year as a Lady Maroon with 10 points.
Both players said that they will need some time to decide if they will use their last playing year with UP.
