After taking a shock loss in UAAP Season 81 women’s volleyball Final Four, the Ateneo Lady Eagles are taking a page off the book of a certain bitter rival.
A little over an hour after the top-ranked Lady Eagles absorbed a devastating five-set loss to the FEU Lady Tamaraws to start Final Four play, Ateneo head coach Oliver Almadro finally emerged from their locker room at the MOA Arena.
The typically intense and animated mentor was awfully quiet, though he didn’t seem particularly down.
Asked for an interview by members of the UAAP Press Corps, the many-time champion coach politely declined.
Still, Coach O assured that he and his Lady Eagles are okay despite the fact that they just blew a twice-to-beat edge in the Final Four.
With a knockout game against the Lady Tamaraws set for next week, Almadro mentioned that Ateneo has “no doubt.”
Against FEU Saturday, Ateneo scored a rousing 25-10 win to start only to lose the next two sets.
The Lady Eagles responded with an impressive 25-12 win in set four but fell apart in the decider, allowing an 8-1 FEU run late as the Lady Tams pulled off a 15-8 victory in set 5.
