The story arch is similar between Rondina and Valdez and Alyssa couldn’t help but see herself in UST’s star scorer.

In UAAP Season 78, Ateneo’s Alyssa Valdez was the Most Valuable Player and carried her team all the way to the UAAP Finals.

Once she got there however, her Lady Eagles lost the championship after three grueling games.

In UAAP Season 81, UST’s Sisi Rondina was the Most Valuable Player and carried her team all the way to the UAAP Finals.

Once she got there however, her Golden Tigresses lost the championship after three grueling games.

The story arch is similar and Alyssa couldn’t help but see herself in UST’s star scorer.

“I feel for Sisi also, being on her last year,” Valdez said.

“I remember my time also, during my last year [losing the UAAP title],” she added.

Alyssa of course has ties to UST.

Before Valdez handed Ateneo its first two UAAP volleyball championships, she was winning UAAP titles with the junior Tigresses.

“I think it’s so refreshing to see a different team [UST] in the Finals,” Valdez said.

“It’s so nice, very inspiring kasi story ng UST from no. 7 last year and now they gave a good fight to Ateneo [in the Finals],” she added.
