Ateneo’s last super libero was Denden Lazaro and with her anchoring the Lady Eagle defense, Katipuan won two UAAP titles.
With the Lady Eagles back on top following a sensational Game 3 win in the UAAP Season 81 Finals, Ateneo may have a super libero on the rise in young Dani Ravena.
The second-year libero was crucial for the Lady Eagles in these Finals, giving Ateneo the spark it needed for a Game 2 equalizer before being an anchor for the floor defense in the Game 3 clincher.
Ravena still has some room to grow naturally but for the biggest game of her UAAP so far, she was all over the court making big saves for the Lady Eagles.
Lazaro was impressed.
“Oh my god, ang galing niya these Finals,” Denden said when asked about Dani.
“She really stepped up for the team kahit na papalit-palit sila ni Kim [Gequillana] during the games. She really stepped up for the team and embraced her role,” she added.
With a strong performance like that in Game 3 of the UAAP Finals, things are only looking up for Ravena says Lazaro.
“Kahit na siya yung pinaka-bata on the court, it felt like she was a veteran already,” Denden said.
“She wanted to win and makikita mo sa galaw niya. She delivered,” Lazaro added.
