Ateneo de Manila University's basketball program remains dead set in continuing its contention.
That is even truer now as the school's Men's, Women's, and Boys' teams have found a brand new backer.
"This is a new partnership we're starting. It's not just about sponsorship, not just about having a logo on the uniform, but a partnership," athletic director Em Fernandez said, Wednesday in Ateneo's contract signing with Firefly LED.
Indeed, with the LED leader pledging its support, all of the Blue Eagles, the Lady Eagles, and the Blue Eaglets have just gotten added fuel to their already burning fire.
Even more, Firefly LED is also eyeing to help out in bettering the Katipunan-based school's 70-year-old Blue Eagle Gym. "We're looking at how to improve the lighting inside the Blue Eagle Gym with Firefly and this is fitting because the Blue Eagle Gym is celebrating 70 years of existence," Fernandez said.
"Right now, this is a Season 82 engagement, but the intent is to also look at it at a long-term capacity," Erik Riola, the company's marketing director said. "That's why we're looking at how to improve the lighting of the Blue Eagle Gym."
For their part, the Blue Eagles are nothing but glad to have an even brighter tomorrow. "They're gonna help us improve our facilities so that's a great opportunity for us," last season's Finals MVP Thirdy Ravena said.
He then continued, "And better yet, it's gonna help a lot of teams, 'di lang kami (sa Men's)."
