The highly-anticipated World Series between the Cleveland Indians and the Chicago Cubs has a Filipino flavor to it.
Cubs shortstop Addison Russell's mother, Milany, is Filipino, and if Chicago ends a 108-year World Series drought, Russell would become the third player with Pinoy heritage to win baseball's highest prize in recent history.
Russell could join Jason Bartlett and Tim Lincecum as Pinoy World Series winners if the Cubs beat the Indians in a battle of two teams with the longest title droughts in Major League Baseball.
Bartlett was the first Filipino to win the World Series with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2008 and Linceum won three with the San Francisco Giants in 2010, 2012, and 2014.
