De La Salle University manhandled University of the Philippines in the 79th UAAP baseball opener over the weekend.
Tuwi Park fired a three-run homer as De La Salle opened its title defense with a 19-1 rout of University of the Philippines Sunday in the 79th UAAP baseball tournament.

UP, meanwhile, took the early lead in softball as it blanked University of the East, 11-5, and edged Ateneo, 6-5, in succession.

In other baseball results, last season's runner-up Ateneo carved out an abbreviated 12-2 victory over University of Santo Tomas while NU bested Adamson, 7-5.
