Mighty Sports flexed its collective muscles Friday as the Philippine squad demolished the Westports Malaysia Dragons, 105-78, in the Merlion Cup at the OCBC Arena in Singapore.

After a slow start, Mighty Sports turned up  the heat in the second quarter and the game was pretty much over at the break, 53-35.

Mighty Sports didn't slow down in the second half as their lead ballooned by as much as 33 points.

The win over the reigning Asean Basketball League champions pushed Mighty Sports to the top of Group B with a clean 2-0 mark.

Gilas Pilipinas prospect Matthew Wright led the Philippine squad in scoring, burning his former ABL team for 20 points on five treys while import and Jones cup MVP Dewarick Spencer added 16.

GlobalPort's Joseph Yeo scored 14 points.

Mighty Sports will wait for either the Yao Ming-owned Shanghai Sharks or the Singapore Slingers in the semifinals tomorrow.
