"Wala nang kangkungan!"
2016 will forever be known in the world of sports as the Death of the Dab. It will also be known starting today as the Death of Kangkong (Water Spinach).
"Wala nang kangkungan!" Ginebra's Mark Caguioa triumphantly belted out after the Gin Kings finally ended their eight-year PBA title drought after a 4-2 series win against Meralco Wednesday.
Kangkong of course, is the term commonly used against the Gin Kings for their numerous struggles in the last couple of years in the PBA.
Well, not anymore. Throw that kangkong away.
"Some people made fun, niloloko, inaano yung team na kangkong ganito ganyan," Caguioa said.
"Sinong kangkong ngayon ha? Ha? Ano? Ul*l," he added laughing.
After waiting eight long years before finally making it back to the PBA, the Spark obviously feels this latest championship may be the best of the bunch.
It's truly special in a way just because of how it ended.
"I still can't believe na we won. It came down to the last shot. It came down to the last possession and Justin hit that amazing shot," he said.
"I don't know, iba eh. This one is up there," Caguioa added.
