"12 years kami magkakasama but alam naman ni James na trabaho lang to." ---Marc Pingris.
Just like his old buddy James, Marc Pingris has moved on from the trade that made Yap leave the Purefoods franchise after 12 years of service.
And just like everyone else, Pingris was in full basketball mode when Star faced off against Yap's new team Rain or Shine for the first time this PBA season.
Despite a rush of emotions during the game, Pingris said he didn't have much time talking to James during the game aside from the usual small talk.
However, they should have all the time to reminisce as the two of them, together with PJ Simon, planned a Christmas party with fans at the San Juan Arena right after the game.
"Kamustahan, and then yung pinagu-usapan namin yung Big 3 party namin mamaya. Usap-usap kami kanina pero during the game wala na, talagang kailangan, trabaho lang kami," Pingris said who ended up with 11 points and eight rebounds in the win.
"Di kami nagpe-personalan kasi pagdating sa court unang iisipin mo yung team, then family mo muna.
Both players entered the PBA at the same time vioa the 2004 Draft but it took Pingris a year before he teamed up with Yap in the Purefoods franchise.
Pingris left for San Miguel in 2008, winning a championship with the team in 2009, before returning to Purefoods for the 2010 season.
