No one on the Rain or Shine roster is more relieved than Beau Belga as the Elasto Painters didn't go winless in their reunion week.
Whoever did Rain or Shine's schedule was pure genius.
In a span of less than a week, the Elasto Painters had to face the Star Hotshots led by their former Finals MVP Paul Lee and the NLEX Road Warriors now handled by their former head coach Yeng Guiao.
It's amazing if you like reunions but it would have been awful if Rain or Shine went 0-2 while playing these games.
Fortunately, the Elasto Painters pulled through and split the two games, losing to Lee's Hotshots but bouncing back to beat Guiao's NLEX. No one on the Rain or Shine roster is more relieved than Beau Belga.
"Na-relieve ako kasi kung sakali kung natalo kami pangalawang bukol na to. Una kay Paul, ngayon kay coach Yeng di ba," Belga said following their 107-97 victory over the Road Warriors.
Aside from avoiding a double black eye, Big Beau and the rest of the Elasto Painters for that matter, have a perfectly good reason to win the game agains their former coach's new squad.
"Medyo kinabahan ako kasi sabi ni coach Caloy kanina sa halftime pagka-natalo dito may ensayo bukas hanggang new year. Sabi ko di pwede marami akong plano, marami akong gagawin ng Pasko kaya kailangan manalo," Belga revealed.
Well, Christmas and new year should be merry for ROS now especially since they end 2016 tied for second place in the Philippine Cup.
Oh, and no practice too.
"Walang ensayo ng tatlong araw hanggang [Dec.] 26. Tapos balik ng 27 hanggang 30 then break ulit ng 31-[Jan.]2. Maganda yung Pasko at new year tsaka okay din yung galing sa panalo. Matatapos yung taon na galing sa panalo, positive sa bagong taon," Belga said.
