Nothing special about his rebounding prowess says Scottie
Playing against Star in the Christmas version of Manila Clasico, Thompson towered over everybody and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with his five points and seven assists.

Despite standing barely above six feet tall, Ginebra's Scottie Thompson has made a name for himself as one of the PBA's top rebounders in the Philippine Cup.

Playing against Star in the Christmas version of Manila Clasico, Thompson towered over everybody and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds to go along with his five points and seven assists.

His herculean effort now puts the former NCAA Most Valuable Player in the top four spot of the league's top rebounders as his average of 10 boards per game only trails three-time reigning MVP June Mar Fajardo (17.6 rebounds per game), Raymond Almazan (11.6 rebounds per game), and Sean Anthony (11.0 rebounds per game).

For the great Scottie, the secret to his rebounding special is nothing special. It all comes down to effort.

"Talagang ginawa ko lang yung best ko. Tinitignan ko kung saan mapupunta kaya tumatakbo ako dun," Thompson said.

"Sakto lang siguro na napupunta sakin yung rebounds. Dinaan ko lang sa sipag," he added.

Aside from rebounding, Thompson also continues to run the Ginebra offense to near perfection. Against Star, the sophomore guard dished out seven dimes. Really, he's making lasting impact despite not making a field goal.

"Credit naman sa mga kasama ko kasi yun naman ang tinatrabaho namin sa practice," Thompson says, refusing to take the credit all for himself.

"Every time na open, talagang gusto ni Coach Tim na itira. Sobrang laking bagay kaya nagkaka-assist ako," he added.
