San Miguel out to solidify hold of no. 1 to end 2016

2016 Philippine Cup Finals MVP Chris Ross and the two-time defending champion Beermen remain the class of the All-Filipino conference.
Already assured of at least the no. 1 ranking to end the year, two-time defending Philippine Cup champion San Miguel Beer nevertheless wants create some separation from the pack to cap 2016.
In the final PBA playdate before 2017, the Beermen shoot for a fifth win against the Meralco Bolts Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Armed with a 4-1 record, the champs are sitting pretty on top of the All-Filipino standings but a win over the Bolts would mean that the Beermen will be one full game ahead of their nearest challengers.
A loss would create a logjam at the top as TNT and Rain or Shine both wrapped up their respective years with identical 4-2 records.
Meanwhile, the Bolts are looking to solidify their place in the middle of the list. Down to 2-3 after losing back-to-back games, a Meralco win allows them to join Ginera, Alaska, and Star as teams stuck at the .500 mark.
Game time is set at 7:00 p.m.
In the first game at 4:15 p.m., the Phoenix Fuel Masters and Globalport Batang Pier do battle as both teams chase a happier new year.
The Fuel Masters are coming off a big win over the Bolts while the Batang Pier look to bounce back after getting tripped by Blackwater in their last outing.
