The PBA is not messing around with its fines imposed on erring players.
After just a week of action in 2017, the PBA has collected a total of P102,900 on fines mostly courtesy of flagrant fouls committed in the first week of the new year as well as the league's last couple of game days in December of last year.
Globalport forward Rico Maierhofer shouldered the burden of the player expenses as the former La Salle star was penalized for P20,000 after a flagrant foul 2 against the Bolts last week.
The TNT KaTropa pair of Troy Rosario and RR Pogoy were fined P15,000 each for separate incidents last December 23 and January 7 respectively. In the case of Pogoy, his large fine was courtesy of his third flagrant foul penalty 1 call for this season.
The money collected by the PBA through penalties goes straight to the Players' Trust Fund that is to be used for the retired players scholarship program.
