CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. Jeron Teng is nothing but raring to lead upstart AMA to an improved performance in the PBA D-League.
For the first time in five years, Jeron Teng will not be donning a jersey in green.
Instead, he will be wearing the red of AMA Online Education.
The two-time UAAP champion is all set to bring his winning pedigree to upstart AMA in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup. “I just can’t wait to play for AMA,” he said in the team’s preseason press conference on Wednesday at the Bagoong Club in Quezon City.
Teng was taken first overall by the Titans in this year’s rookie selection process. He is expected to help with the heavy lifting for a team that registered a 6-14 record in two conferences a season ago.
"Ang AMA, maraming firsts. Thirty-seven years ago, we opened the first IT-only school. Now, we hope to get our first championship,” school CEO Dr. Amable Aguiluz said, challenging their newest prized ward.
Responding to the challenge, the former Green Archer fresh off a championship expressed, “As a team, that’s our goal talaga – to win a championship. And I think it’s possible.”
Helping Teng with the tall task will be double-double machine JR Taganas and former collegiate rivals Juami Tiongson and Diego Dario.
This year’s draft’s top pick debuts in the PBA D-League on Thursday at the Ynares Arena when AMA takes on league newbie Batangas.
