TROY OF TNT. Rosario takes over struggling KaTropa
The no. 2 overall pick from the 2015 PBA Draft unloaded 10 points in a crucial third-quarter run for TNT, a run the KaTropa used to take back momentum from the Floodbuster and a run they eventually rode to a 104-92 win to snap a recent two-game slide.

With TNT once again falling behind after a flat end to its first half against Mahindra, Troy Rosario took it upon himself to save the game and possibly even salvage the KaTropa's flickering Philippine Cup campaign.

The no. 2 overall pick from the 2015 PBA Draft unloaded 10 points in a crucial third-quarter run for TNT, a run the KaTropa used to take back momentum from the Floodbuster and a run they eventually rode to a 104-92 win to snap a recent two-game slide.

Rosario ended up with a team-high 18 points, 15 in the second half, but more importantly, Rosario helped TNT move up to a share of fourth with a 5-4 record, breaking away from a five-team logjam for the 5th-9th places.

In a conference where only eight teams advance and all ties are to be broken by the quotient system, this victory by TNT was big.

"Start pa lang nung game nandun na yung sense of urgency kasi once na matalo kami talagang babagsak na kami," Rosario said.

"Kailangan talaga namin manalo sa game na to. Yun good thing naging maganda yung second half namin," he added.

Part of the reason why the KaTropa were able to outscore Mahindra by 18 points was Rosario, who basically led a youth uprising for TNT with rookie RR Pogoy (career-high 16 points) and 2015 top pick Mo Tautuaa (14 points).

"Dapat lang talaga kasi kami yung mga bata. Kaming mga bago, kailangan namin magkaroon ng energy eh," Rosario said of their collective effort.

"Dun nagsisimula yung run kapag nakakatakbo kami tsaka nakaka-produce kami ng energy. Kahit sa mga nasa bench, pag gumawa kami ng run talagang nakakatulong yun," he said.

By taking their fifth win for the season, the KaTropa can once again make a play for a twice-to-beat bonus for the quarterfinals.

But with uneven play as of late, actually making the quarterfinals is the only goal for TNT for now.

"Ngayon siguro wala na sa isip namin yung pumasok sa top 2," Rosario said. "Pumasok sa next round, yun talaga ang focus namin."
