The Fuel Masters have the golden opportunity to get a headstart on the competition in hopes of joining defending champion San Miguel at the top.
The 2017 PBA Philippine Cup playoff race gets crazier by the day but a clearer picture will at least emerge Sunday as teams near the end of their respective 11-game trips.
In the first game of a double-header at the PhilSports Arena, the Alaska Aces look to make their case for the last twice-to-beat edge in the quarterfinals as they battle the Mahindra Floodbuster at 4:30 p.m.
With a 4-4 record and only half a game behind five teams that currently share second place, the Aces could set themselves up for future success with a win.
On the other hand, the Floodbuster are out to keep their fading playoff hopes alive by scoring an upset against Alaska.
In the second game at 7:00 p.m. and right after the announcement of the Gilas Pilipinas pool, Brgy. Ginebra and Phoenix duke it out for the right to be the team that holds solo second spot... for now.
Two of the five teams that currently sport a 5-4 mark, the Gin Kings and the Fuel Masters have the golden opportunity to get a headstart on the competition in hopes of joining defending champion San Miguel at the top.
