The Blur returns to Gilas Pilipinas
TNT's Jayson Castro is back for Gilas Pilipinas as the Blur is one of the 24 men selected to be part of the new national team pool coached by the returning Chot Reyes.

The best point guard in Asia is officially coming out of his retirement from international basketball.

TNT's Jayson Castro is back for Gilas Pilipinas as the Blur is one of the 24 men selected to be part of the new national team pool coached by the returning Chot Reyes.

The announcement was made Sunday at the PhilSports Arena.

Castro, who was part of the Mythical team during the 2013 and 2015 FIBA-Asia championships famously retired from national team play last year after the Philippines missed out on the 2016 Rio Olympics.

However, the Blur is back to make another run at the FIBA World Cup two years from now and the Tokyo Games in 2020.

Also returning for the Philippine team is Alaska star Calvin Abueva. The Beast was one of the final cuts for the team that competed in the 2016 Olympic Qualifying Tournament.

Paul Lee, who played in the 2014 FIBA World Cup, but has been limited by injuries causing him to miss the 2015 FIBA-Asia and the 2016 OQT, is also part of the pool.

Three-time PBA Most Valuable Player June Mar Fajardo is obviously still part of the 24-man strong lineup while GInebra's Japeth Aguilar will also suit up.

Adding to Gilas Pilipinas' overall ceiling are Rain or Shine's Raymond Almazan, Phoenix's Nornert Torres, NLEX's Bradwyn Guinto, and Blackwater's Art Dela Cruz.

Jonathan Grey, who narrowly missed out in the cadet selection, is now officially part of the pool while LA Revilla is Mahindra's representative for Gilas.

Terrence Romeo, the PBA's most dynamic scorer completes the list of 12.

Cadets Mac Belo, Matthew Wright, Ed Daquioag, Jio Jalalon, Carl Bryan Cruz, RR Pogoy, Mike Tolomia, Von Pessumal, Kevin Ferrer, Russel Escoto, Arnold Van Opstal, and Alfonso Gotladera make up the other 12.
