JRU downs Batangas to keep perfect start in PBA D-League

Teytey Teodoro and the JRU Heavy Bombers start their 2017 D-League stint with two wins in as many games.
In what is essentially an early buildup for NCAA Season 93, ose Rizal University is making good use of its stint in the PBA D-League.
The Heavy Bombers maintained their undefeated start in the 2017 Aspirants' Cup after taking care of Team Batangas, 70-65, Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Down four at the half, the Heavy Bombers used a 21-6 third quarter to bury the now 0-2 Batangas.
JRU first unloaded a 10-0 run to regain the advantage early in the second half before posting the biggest lead of the game at 11 points, 53-42, late in the third.
Batangas would make a final effort to try and steal the game in the fourth by John Grospe came through with enough timely baskets to preserve JRU's second win in as many games.
Grospe led the Heavy Bombers with 20 points while Teytey Teodoro finished with a cool 18 of his own.
"Big improvement on our defense compared dun sa first game namin," head coach Vergel Meneses said and the effort of his squad.
Batangas got 18 points from Joseph Sedufira but it wasn't enough for a breakthrough D-League win. CJ Isit added 12.
