FOES AND FRIENDS. Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng will be sharing the ball when Team Philippines wages war in the 2017 Dubai Invitational.
Collegiate rivals will turn into teammates for the country when Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng spearhead the campaign of Mighty Sports in the 2017 Dubai Invitational Basketball Tournament.
Ravena will put on hold his tryout with the Texas Legends in the NBA D-League while Teng will take advantage of the light schedule of AMA Online Education to suit up for Team Philippines in the week-long tournament commencing on February 18.
Flanking them in Dubai will be former PBA MVP Willie Miller and once Ginebra import Justin Brownlee.
For the two-time UAAP champion out of De La Salle University, the opportunity to represent the country was too great to pass up. “Feeling ko mag-eenjoy ako and at the same time, I’ll be able to represent my country,” he expressed.
Teng got the okay of AMA, his team in the PBA D-League, which has enjoyed back-to-back wins with him showing the way. “AMA allowed Jeron to join because it is for the country. Basta para sa bayan,” coach Mark Herrera said.
AMA will still have to play one assignment without their 22-year-old prized prospect. That tiff will be against Malaysian-backed Blustar Detergent on February 21.
