Sitting at 5-4, the Aces are looking to become the fourth team to enter the quarterfinals behind two-time defending champion San Miguel Beer, TNT KaTropa, and the Phoenix Fuel Masters.
Six is officially the magic number for a playoff berth in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup.
And with the Alaska Aces already at number 5, it makes their matchup against the Phoenix Fuel Masters Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome all the more crucial.
Sitting at 5-4, the Aces are looking to become the fourth team to enter the quarterfinals behind two-time defending champion San Miguel Beer, TNT KaTropa, and the Fuel Masters themselves.
However, just because Phoenix already punched its ticket to the next round, it doesn't mean that the Fuel Masters are not going for the win in their final regular season assignment.
At 6-4, Phoenix is still in the run for the no. 2 spot and the twice-to-beat advantage that comes along with it. But with teams separated by less than one game in the standings and the quotient system factoring in in terms of multiple ties, the Fuel Masters could end up as low as eight when the dust settles in this heated playoff race.
Gametime for this game, which in itself is already a playoff encounter, is set at 7:00 p.m.
In the first game at 4:15 p.m., also-rans NLEX and Mahindra fight for pride as their Philippine Cup run nears its final lap.
Both the Floodbuster and the Road Warriors currently sit at 2-7.
