Led by a new star in Paul Lee, the Hotshots can finish above .500 for the first time in four conferences provided they beat the Meralco Bolts Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
It's a strange time for San Miguel Corporation's crown jewel.
Star hasn't made a decent post-season run since the 2015 Governors' Cup. That conference was also the last time the Hotshots finished over .500 after the elimination round.
The dominating aura of the 2014 Grand Slam team is gone.
Fortunately for the franchise, Star has been turning on a new leaf. And led by a new star in Paul Lee, the Hotshots can finish above .500 for the first time in four conferences provided they beat the Meralco Bolts Saturday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
Oh, a playoff berth in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup comes in package with a victory.
With an early tip at 3:00 p.m., the 5-4 Hotshots are looking to become the fifth team to make the quarterfinals of the season-opening conference against the 3-7 Bolts.
However, count on Meralco to try and play the part of the spoiler as the team tries to end a lost campaign on a high note.
In the second game at 5:15 p.m., two-time defending champion San Miguel Beer look to wrap up an incredible regular season against rival TNT.
The Beermen have been on a tear in the All- Filipino, winning eight straight games for a 9-1 record. But with the 6-4 KaTropa still in the hunt for the second twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals, expect a tough outing between the two powerhouse teams.
