Despite scoreless outing, Ping lays foundation for Star
With players like Allein Maliksi, Paul Lee, and Jio Jalalon taking care of the offense, Pingris per usual anchored the Star defense, finishing with seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

Antipolo City --- In a game where they led by as much as 55 points before taking a 47-point decision and all available players played, Marc Pingris was the lone Star Hotshot to lay an egg against the Meralco Bolts Saturday.

Pingris finised with zero points on 0-of-1 shooting in a 120-73 win over the Meralco Bolts at the Ynares Center here. All of his teammates managed to score a bucket in the impressive rout.

Ping didn't mind though. At this point of his colorful basketball career, he's not one to care that much about his offensive touches.

It's not like he did before actually.

"Dino-double ako eh," Pingris said of his zero-point outing.

With players like Allein Maliksi, Paul Lee, and Jio Jalalon taking care of the offense, Pingris per usual anchored the Star defense, finishing with seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal.

He was also a team-best plus 30 in just 22 minutes. Talk about making an impact without scoring a point.

With Star slowly returning to prominence after flat performance last season, Pingris points to their team defense as the key element that has sparked their current renaissance.
