Ginebra comes back to beat NLEX, books playoff berth
Tenorio scored 30 points for the Gin Kings as Ginebra heads to the quarterfinals with a 6-5 record. However, just like every other team not named San Miguel, Ginebra has wait for its final playoff seeding with one more playdate to go.

It wasn't as pretty as their previous conference but Brgy. Ginebra San Miguel got the job done regardless.

The Gin Kings became the 7th team to advance in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup after scoring a 90-80 comeback victory over NLEX Sunday at the Cuneta Astrodome.

Down by as much as 17 points in the first half, Ginebra had to use a big second-half push to beat the Road Warriors behind a season-high performance from LA Tenorio.

Tenorio scored 30 points for the Gin Kings as Ginebra heads to the quarterfinals with a 6-5 record. However, just like every other team not named San Miguel, Ginebra has wait for its final playoff seeding with one more playdate to go.

Playing with nothing to lose, the Road Warriors got off to a fast start against the Gin Kings in the first quarter, 28-20. By the time the second period rolled around, NLEX was off to another 9-0 run to put up its biggest lead of the game at 17, 37-20.

However, was able to do just enough for Ginebra as his 11 points gave the Gin Kings some room to work with heading into the second half, 42-46.

"It looked for a while we forgot how to play basketball. I don't know how to describe it. we looked like we were high school kids trying to play against pros early in the game. LA and Scottie got us right towards the end of the first half, and that kind of proplled us into halftime and gave us a lot of confindece," head coach Tim Cone said.

Ginebra's confidence showed in the third as the Gin Kings promptly outscored the Road Warriors by 12 points to take full control of the game. The turnaround was complete when Ginebra put up a 15-point cushion, 85-70, in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Alas and Enrico Villanueva led the Road Warriors with 14 points apiece but NLEX crashed out of the Philippine Cup with a four-game losing skid for a 2-9 record.
