ROS look to finally bounce back and make PBA playoffs
At 5-4, Rain or Shine would love to clinch that quarterfinal slot outright.

It's the penultimate day of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup elimination round and at least one more team will make the quarterfinals at the end of Sunday. Two if we all get lucky.

In the first game at 4:30 p.m. from the Cuneta Astrodome, the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters and the Globalport Batang Pier dispute a playoff berth in a crucial contest.

With both teams at five wins, getting a victory on Sunday means that they get to join San Miguel Beer, Star, TNT, Phoenix, and Alaska into the next round. However, a loss may put their conference in jeopardy.

Especially on the side of Globalport since a loss would put the Batang Pier at 5-6, tied with Blackwater for 8th-9th place. It was only two weeks ago when Terrence Romeo and co. were eyeing a twice-to-beat advantage but two defeats later, here they are.

At 5-4, Rain or Shine can still technically affor to lose this matchup but don't count on that happening under coach Caloy Garcia's watch as the Elasto Painters already suffered an upset at the hands of Meralco in their last outing. They would love to clinch that quarterfinal slot outright.

In the second game at 6:45 p.m., Brgy. Ginebra battles also-ran NLEX to also make the quarterfinals outright.

The Gin Kings are practically in the ame predicament as the Batang Pier as a loss would put them to 5-6, further complicating and already confusing playoff race.

NLEX meanwhile is merely battling for pride as a loss would mean the Road Warriors will get the league's worst record. Even if they win, they'd still probably end up with that distinction but at least they want to end up with a win.
