Tough times for NLEX as Guiao era off to a flat start
Entering Sunday's elimination round finale against Ginebra, the Road Warriors will for sure end up with the worst record regardless if they win or not.

Guaranteed to have the worst record in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup, Yeng Guiao's first conference with NLEX has been officially a flop.

Entering Sunday's elimination round finale against Ginebra, the Road Warriors will for sure end up with the worst record regardless if they win or not.

And Guiao, who basically left a championship team in Rain or Shine to coach NLEX, has his patience running thinner by the day.

"We all know this is a process, but we cannot wait too long," Guiao said after the Road Warriors lost their eight game of the conference last Friday.

"In all the teams that I’ve coached, the batting average was really good – if you give a player confidence, playing time, and then you train him, and then you put him in a situation where he can put to use yung mga training niya, there’s a good chance they will prove themselves. But that’s not yet happening for this team. Maybe we have to wait a little bit longer, or baka kailangan balasahin," he added, once again hinting that player movement may be in order for NLEX.

Despite a horrible start to the Guiao era in NLEX, coach Yeng does see some light at the end of the tunnel.

"The good side is siguro that gives you an opportunity to re-organize the team. You have an early draft for next year and hawak pa naman namin yung draft namin, so looking into the future, there’s a bright side – if you want to look at it as the light at the end of the tunnel, but while you’re going through the tunnel, it’s dark," Guiao said.

And while he and his squad continue to make their way out of their current predicament, starting with the 2017 Commissioner's Cup specifically, they'll have realize that their practically the worst team in the PBA right now.

"Nakakapanibago, pero you have to be prepared to accept that," Guiao said.
