PUT IN PLACE.

Racal dealt AMA Online Education its first loss in the 2017 PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup, pulling off a 78-73 win Tuesday at Ynares Arena in Pasig.

Kent Salado anchored the Tile Masters with 16 points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals while Sidney Onwubere got a double-double with his 14 markers and 11 boards.

Rey Nambatac also had 10 points in the victory which improved Racal's record to 2-0.

Racal clawed back from a seven-point hole, 56-63, with six minutes to play in the fourth and eventually held the lead, 70-68, with three minutes left to play thanks to an Onwubere three.

Defense did it from there as the Tile Masters clamped down on defense and limited the Titans to just three points. Salado and Allan Mangahas then sealed the deal late.

Coach Jerry Codinera shared Racal underestimated AMA's height, discrediting the Titans' firepower despite the presence of Jeron Teng and Juami Tiongson. "Di kami nakapag-adjust with the way we defend but buti na lang with their effort, naniwala sila na kaya naming manalo," he said.

Teng topscored for the Titans with 23 points on a 10-of-25 clip to go along with 10 rebounds and three assists while Tiongson finished with 21 markers.

In the first game, Batangas used a gallant stand in the end game as it rolled to an 88-85 victory over Victoria Sports-MLQU to nab up its first win.

Joseph Sedurifa topped his crew with 17 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists, Dan Sara tallied 15 markers, five boards, and three assists, and Cedric Ablaza chalked up 15 points and seven rebounds to arrest the Batanguenos' two-game losing slide.

"Masaya syempre. More than anything, we're seeing the Batanguenos grow," said coach Eric Gonzales. "Marami pa kaming kailangang iimprove, but I'm very happy na di sila nag-back down sa challenge."

Using a strong fourth quarter spurt, Batangas jumped to a 10-point lead, 73-63, before Victoria Sports waged a tough comeback bid and even grabbed an 85-84 edge with 2:36 to play after Robbie Herndon trey.

Sedurifa nailed a jumper to reclaim the lead for Batangas before Ablaza dropped an undergoal stab with 46.2 ticks to play.

Victoria Sports muffed its chances late, but was given one last shot with 5.5 seconds remaining. Unfortunately, Zach Nicholls' three only hit the front rim as his side fell to its second loss.

Herndon carried Victoria Sports with 27 points and 11 rebounds.
