The former two-time league MVP sees this ROS setback as an opportunity for the team to rebuild some of its signature chemistry.
James Yap's first conference out of the Purefoods franchise appeared to be going well until it wasn't.
After Rain or Shine's initial 5-2 surge, the Elasto Painters lost five of their last six games, getting the boot in the quarterfinals from no. 1 and two-time defending Philippine Cup champion San Miguel Beer.
Still, the former two-time league MVP sees this setback as an opportunity for the team to rebuild some of its signature chemistry.
After all, Yap is one of the new faces of Rain or Shine after a small reset during the offseason.
"Actually, maganda naman ang laro namin, kinulang lang," Yap said.
"Dito naman kasi magiging matatag ang isa't isa, pag merong mga ganitong sitwasyon na na-out ka sa conference. Dito magbi-build yung tiwala sa isa't isa," he added.
After finaly experience life after Star, Yap also feels the upcoming Commissioner's Cup is the true start for him with Rain or Shine.
"Oo, ito yung start. Ganun naman talaga ang basketball, minsan di mo time, pero, ayun," he said.
But for now though, recharging their batteries is priority number one for Yap and the Elasto Painters.
"Pahinga muna ang katawan mo para pagbalik fresh ka ulit, at kalimutan muna itong All-Filipino Conference. Balik ka with a clear mind," Yap said.
