TNT comes up clutch anew to take 2-1 lead over Beermen
Ranidel De Ocampo continues to have an incredible semifinals for TNT. After a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double in Game 2, RDO once again led the KaTropa 24 points and nine rebounds.

TNT is starting to land some good punches in its heavyweight bout against San Miguel.

After proving that they can beat the two-time All-Filipino champions in Game 2, the KaTropa proved in Game 3 that they too are a PBA powerhouse and scored a pulsating 98-92 victory Sunday in the Philippine Cup semifinals at the Big Dome.

The flagship MVP franchise thus took a 2-1 lead in the race to four, handing the flagship SMC franchise their first losing streak of the season.

Just like in Game 2, an 87-85 decision in favor of TNT, the KaTropa had to rely on a clutch defensive stand to stop the San Miguel juggernaut.

TNT held San Miguel to only one field goal in the last two minutes, that plus some steady free throw shooting and the KaTropa find themselves halfway done in their quest to return to the Philippine Cup Finals.

Ranidel De Ocampo continues to have an incredible semifinals for TNT. After a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double in Game 2, RDO once again led the KaTropa 24 points and nine rebounds.

Rookie RR Pogoy meanwhile made his presence felt in the playoffs, accounting for 22 points, nine in the fourth, and seven boards.

Jayson Castro scored 11 and dished out 12 assists for TNT.

"I think it's similar to the last game. I think it's our defense eh," head coach Nash Racela said.

"I think coach Leo did a great job adjusting his rotations and yung mga schemes niya and for a while we were surprised. But it was good we were able to recover," he added.

After a close first half, TNT unloaded an 11-0 run early in the third quarter to post its biggest lead of the game at 12 points, 61-49. However, the Beermen would come back with an 11-0 blitz of their own to regain control before both teams entered the fourth tied at 72.

Alex Cabagnot and Marcio Lassiter led San Miguel with 18 points apiece while league MVP June Mar Fajardo added 16 for the Beermen.

Game 3 is set for Tuesday at the MOA Arena.
