After a scoreless Game 1, Troy Rosario came back and led TNT in scoring in Game 2.
The Troy Rosaro tasked with taking care of TNT's PBA future finally showed up in the 2017 Philippine Cup semfinals.
After a scoreless Game 1 against San Miguel where he only attempted one shot -- not enough for a former no. 2 pick really -- Rosario bounced back in Game 2, leading the KaTropa in scoring as TNT tied the semifinal series against the champs at one game apiece.
Sure, Rosario only ended up with 14 points, but the former NU Bulldog did his work early and effectively, giving TNT an early advantage in the first half by maximizing his mismatch at the three spot.
"May mga part ng game na may mga mismatch, gaya kanina first quarter na three big kami so pinopostehan ko yung three guy nila sa kabila. Binibigyan nila kao ng kumpiyansa eh so binabalik ko lang," Rosario said.
A key part of the TNT offense, it was about time Rosario made his presence felt in the semis.
And with the KaTropa wanting to avoid a 0-2 hole against the champs, his timely Game 2 scoring proved to be pivotal.
"Bumawi lang ako kasi alam kong mas marami dapat akong nagawa nung Game 1. Kahit ako nabigla ako na isang attempt lang ako nung Game 1 eh, nakita ko lang talaga sa stat sheet, dun ko lang nalaman na isa lang tinira ko," Rosario said.
"Coming Game 2 sabi ko titira na ako, baka sakaling pumasok na. Talagang kumpiyansa na ako sa tira ko," he added.
With Game 3 on the horizon and series control on the line, Rosario now feels confident about his team's chances.
That because TNT's Game 2 win not only tied the series, it also the first time the KaTropa beat the Beermen this season.
"Malaking confidence boost to eh, kasi syempre ang hirap ma-down ng two games eh kaya kailangan talaga namin manalo. Coming Game 3 alam na namin na kaya pala namin talunin San Miguel, yung powerhouse na San Miguel," Rosario said.
