Get rid of those brooms, we have a series right here.

Brgy. Ginebra finally pushed back and is on the board for the Manila Clasico semifinals of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup, scoring a crucial 73-62 win against the Star Hotshots in Game 3 Monday at the MOA Arena.

After losing back-to-back games to start the series, the Gin Kings have cut their playoff deficit in half, 1-2, with the huge victory.

After Mark Barroca gave Star the lead, 60-59, with 5:57 to go, the Gin Kings used a 14-2 windup to end the game, clamping down on defense and holding the Hotshots scoreless for almost five minutes to seal the win.

Sol Mercado also came big for Ginebra as the veteran point guard buried to big triples in that 14-2 run to turn a 61-60 Ginebra lead into a 70-60 cushion with three minutes to go.

"Well, we hit some shots. I think that was the big difference maker," head coach Tim Cone said.

"We hit some shots when we needed to, something we didn't do in the first two games. I thought this would be a defensive battle but I didn't think it would be like this. Both teams were bleeding for points," he added.

Cone was right, despite winning, Ginebra only shot 39 percent from the field. Star was worse as the Hotshots only connected on 29 percent of their attempts.

Mercado was the high man for the Gin Kings in Game 3, scoring 16 points in 35 minutes while Japeth Aguilar added 15.

As for Star, only Marc Pingris scored in double-figures as Ping tallied 13 to go along with 18 rebounds.

Game 4 of this series is scheduled for Wednesday at the Big Dome.
