The PBA has decided to discipline four members of Star, no matter how candid their comments were after their team dropped another close contest to Ginebra.
The league office announced on Thursday that it has fined Alein Maliksi, Marc Pingris, head coach Chito Victolero, and team manager Alvin Patrimonio an undisclosed amount for “comments detrimental to the PBA.”
“They have their own views about the officiating. We’re trying our best to make it a fair game,” commissioner Chito Narvasa said.
After the Hotshots’ loss, Pingris was candid as he has ever been when asked to react to the 34-18 disparity between the archrivals in terms of team fouls. “Wow. Ang dami naming masyadong fouls e so dun siguro kami natalo,” he said then.
He then continued, “So next time, siguro iwasan naming mag-foul para manalo kami. At gagalingan sa depensa siyempre.”
Maliksi, Victolero, and Patrimonio had their own moments of candor when asked about officiating.
Narvasa was quick to clarify, however, that he has had a conversation with all of the Hotshots involved and shares that they are “very apologetic.”
Meanwhile, another Star player in Jiovani Jalalon incurred his own fine for his hit on Gin King Sol Mercado.
