Arwind supremely confident San Miguel will take Perpetual trophy

"Ngayon na nandito kami, nandoon ang expectation ko na dapat talaga makuha namin ito." --- Arwind Santos.
With a lineup as strong as San Miguel, you almost always expect them to win a championship each time out.
And in the last two editions of the Philippine Cup, the Beermen did just that. When it comes to the PBA's most prestigious tournament, nobody has been better than the flagship SMC franchise for two seasons now.
You can also argue that no team has been better than San Miguel in the 2017 version of the All-Filipino as well.
Despite a tough seven-game semifinal series, the two-time defending champions have been practically untouchable so far this season.
And with yet another Finals appearance, this time against sister team Brgy. Ginebra, the Beermen set their sights on history, looking to become only the second team to win three staight Philippine Cup championships.
While the Gin Kings are for sure another tough outing, the champs come in the race to four showdown with supreme confidence. Because when it comes to the All-Filipino, San Miguel remains the gold standard by which all teams are measured.
"Sabi ko dapat yung team ko pag All-Filipino sa amin na,' forward Arwind Santos said.
Despite Ginebra coming in as the no. 7 seed, the Gin Kings are by no means a fluke in the Philippine Cup.
It was only last conference when Tim Cone's squad ended an eight-year PBA title drought. And in case you forgot, the Gin Kings took down the then-defending champion Beermen in the semifinals to win the 2016 Governors' Cup.
But none of that matters in the PBA's biggest tournament. Because when imports are no longer involved, the Beermen remain as the no. 1 team until proven otherwise.
"Yung lineup namin, okay na pati yung samahan namin. Ngayon na nandito kami, nandoon ang expectation ko na dapat talaga makuha namin ito," Santos said.
With their quest for the Perpetual trophy almost done, Santos is confident that his team is going to pull it off.
After all, the Beermen are basically the PBA's version of the Avengers.
"Ang maganda sa team namin, nandito ang tiwala namin sa isa't isa. Walang masamang tinapay. Alam namin ang role namin. Talagang laban, ayaw magpatalo ng bawat isa. Pag individually, ganoon ang players mo, pag pinagsama-sama, lakas yun," the 2013 league MVP said.
"Dapat mas gamay mo na kung paano manalo ng championship. Naexperience na namin ito eh. Pero kahit alam mo na, syempre sila may preparation din, dapat paghandaan mo rin. Minsan, pwede ka madala. Dapat alive ka lang. Wag kang kukurap," he added.
The Beermen start their best-of-7 Finals against Ginebra on Friday for Game 1 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
