There was no more Kiefer Ravena, but it was the same old story for Team Philippines in the Dubai International Basketball Tournament.
Chris Tiu was able to send the game into overtime, but the Mighty Sports-backed squad ran out of gas to see fancied Al Riyadi cruise past them, 100-95, on Thursday (Philippine time) in Dubai.
Tiu and Willie Miller got together to mount a four-point lead for the Philippines at the midway mark of the extra period before Branko Cvetkovic took over for Team Lebanon.
The Serbian star scored all but seven of his team’s last 20 points to take the fight out of the Filipinos. He ended with 20 points.
Abdul Wahab Aminu contributed a 22-point, 10-rebound double-double to help keep their team atop the leaderboard.
On the other hand, Justin Brownlee posted 27 points and 10 rebounds while Hasheem Thabeet added 16 points, 12 rebounds, and two blocks. Without any answer for Cvetkovic in the endgame, however, they dropped their fifth game in as many tries.
Kiefer Ravena did not suit up for the game as he’s still mending to his injured right hand.
