PBA names three cities to host 2017 All-Star Games
The North vs. South is no more. Instead, it's Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao vs. Gilas Pilipinas.
The venues for the 2017 PBA All-Star Games have been announced.
After staying in Metro Manila last year, the PBA has announced three cities that will play host for this year's festivities.
Lucena City, Cebu, and Cagayan De Oro will take charge for the 2017 All-Star Game that will pit Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao against Gilas Pilipinas.
The Mindanao All-Stars are up first on April 26 while the Visayas selection takes on the national team on April 30.
Being the main host, Lucena City will be site for the Luzon All-Stars vs. Gilas Pilipinas encounter on April 28 as well as all side events including the three-point shootout, the slam dunk contest, and the blitz game.
The All-Star game takes an interesting and a bit complicated turn this year with the regional format.
Members of Gilas Pilipinas will not suit up for the national team if the game is played in their respective region.
For example, Mac Belo will play for Team Mindanao and not for Gilas on April 26, Jayson Castro will don the Luzon jersey on April 28, and Gilas Pilipinas will be without June Mar Fajardo on April 30.
Last year, ASG Most Valuable Player Alex Cabagnot led the North All-Stars to a 154-151 win over their South counterparts at the Araneta Coliseum.
