Battered and bruised Thompson delivers anew for Ginebra
The sophomore Ginebra star had the best game out of everybody at the Quezon Convention Center, going for 18 points, a career-high 18 rebounds, and eight assists, doing everything in his power to make sure Ginebra was going back to Manila with a win (Photo courtesy of the PBA).

Game 2 of the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Finals was so full of highlights that Scottie Thompson actually took a backseat in the grand scheme of things.

Lucena City was a witness to Kevin Ferrer's first "you gotta be kidding me" moment in the PBA, Marcio Lassiter becoming "Salt Bae", Japeth Aguilar dunking all over June Mar Fajardo, Gabby Espinas and Ronald Tubid turning clutch, and Joe Devance being more clutch. He got the job done, and he was tired as heck right after.

"Kinukuha ko nalang yung pahinga ko sa free throw at time out. Ngayon sobrang pagod na, sobrang bruised," Thompson said after putting the Gin Kings on the board in the All-Filipino Finals.

"Hindi lang ako humihinto. Talaga iniisip ko na sana mapagod sila sa kakahanap nila sakin sa rebound so talaga di ako humihinto," he added, talking about his rebounding effort.

Scottie being Scottie, the former NCAA MVP deflects another big-time effort to the work of his coaching staff, saying he's only repaying the trust that was given to him.

"Credit lang talaga sa mga coaching staff, kay coach Tim, kasi tinitignan nila kung paano yung depensa ng San Miguel sa amin," he said.

"Lahat naman talaga, di lang ako, binibigyan ng kumpyansa ng mga coaches in today's game. Nasa coach staff talaga. Ang gusto ko lang i-repay them," he added.
