Ronald Tubid, together with forward Gabby Espinas, make up San Miguel's two-man bench mob that has been performing well in the PBA Finals.
After a playoff run without proper bench support, it appears San Miguel's reserves have been resurrected just in time for the PBA Finals.
Following an impressive outing in Game 1 of the Philippine Cup championship series, the Beermen backups did one better in Game 2 at Lucena City.
However, San Miguel's bench mob, just a two-man crew actually, failed to finish the job as Brgy. Ginebra came away with a 124-118 overtime victory in an instant classic, tying the best-of-7 at one game each.
"Sayang yung effort kasi talo," forward Gabby Espinas said who finished with 13 points, including a go-ahead three in regulation that could have won the game for San Miguel.
"Kung manalo, ako pa tumira ng three points. Pero para sa Ginebra talaga yung game na ito," he added.
The Beermen were forced to dig deeper in Game 2 after Marcio Lassiter, June Mar Fajardo, and Chris Ross were all disqualified for one reason or another.
Espinas gladly answered the call in almost 25 minutes of play.
"Ganun talaga ang kailangan kasi Finals ito," he said. "Laban lang ng laban kahit anong mangyari.
The other half of San Miguel's two-man bench mob was Ronald Tubid, who prompty took over the wing spot after Marcio Lassiter got ejected in the third quarter for taunting.
Tubid finished with 16 points in 27 minutes, shooting 4-of-6 from deep.
His biggest shots came in overtime as a pair of booming treys tied the game for the last time at 118-all.
"Kailangan lang gampanan yung role nung iba na nawala," Tubid said.
"Ready lang pag pinasok. Nataon lang rin na nakaka-shoot," he added.
