POWER PAIR. Alab is set to have the services of a couple of two-time UAAP MVPs.
Losers of three of their last five games, Alab Pilipinas are about to get a big-time boost.
Two-time UAAP MVP Kiefer Ravena is poised to play for the Philippines in the ongoing 2016-2017 Asean Basketball League.
That is, once the right hand he injured in the recently-concluded Dubai International Basketball Tournament heals.
“Kiefer agreed to play already, pero hindi pa this Sunday,” team manager Charlie Dy told ABS-CBN Sports on Wednesday.
Ravena is expected to need one to two weeks to mend to his right hand. That rules him out for Alab’s game against Saigon on Friday and Malaysia on Sunday.
Dy shared that the league’s last day for roster additions was last Monday and Alab made it a point to put in the 23-year-old’s name on their lineup.
When he suits up with the Filipinos, Ravena will backstop also two-time UAAP MVP Ray Parks Jr. and American imports Sampson Carter and James Hughes.
Impressive in the earlygoing of the tournament, Alab has lost to the likes of the Hear and the Dragons – two teams in the bottom half of the standings – in the past few weeks.
With a fully-healthy Parks Jr. and Ravena in the near future, however, the Philippines hopes to get back on track and improve on its 8-5 record.
