No regrets for JDV to keep going despite playing hurt
The veteran forward played through injury not only in the five-game championship series but also for most of Ginebra's entire playoff run.

Brgy. Ginebra's gallant stand in the 2017 PBA Philippine Cup Finals was best personified by Joe Devance.

The veteran forward played through injury not only in the five-game championship series but also for most of Ginebra's entire playoff run.

But still, in between getting shots of painkillers to allow him to suit up, Devance, a seven-time PBA champion, soldiered on, even handing the Gin Kings' lone Finals victory by coming up clutch in Game 2 all the way from Lucena City in Quezon Province.

In Game 5 as well during Ginebra's last stand, JDV went for 20 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists, carrying the fight for the Gin Kings. His final effort was on top of his 22-point, six-rebound outing in Game 4.

Despite losing though, Devance says he has no regrets in his decision to keep playing.

"It was all worth it. Just to battle with these guys, they played their hearts out. I don't regret anything," he said.

"Hopefully, my foot won't be affected later in life. But I'll worry about that if it happens," Devance added.

In order to fix his injured foot, Devance has been thinking about getting surgery now that there's a little break before the next PBA conference.

"I’m just gonna rest. I’ll probably get surgery. So I may be out for a few months," he said.

"I did what I could. I dont know what to say. I feel kinda bad right now. But San Miguel played great. That’ s a great team. Let’s see what we can do next conference," Devance added.
