Sacrifice worth it as Fajardo celebrates history with SMB

"Sobrang nakaka-proud kasi talagang pinaghirapan namin. Before nag-start yung conference, grabe yung sakripisyo namin." --- June Mar Fajardo on San Miguel's historic three-peat.
In this decade, only three teams have won the Philippine Cup.
Not only is the All-Filipino the most prestigious PBA tournament, it's also the hardest one to win.
That's why San Miguel Beer, becoming only the second team in history to three-peat in the Philippine Cup, is cherishing it's extended reign at the top.
"Syempre special ito kasi may history din. Nakakatuwa talaga," reigning three-time league MVP June Mar Fajardo said following the Beermen's 91-85 victory against Bgry. Ginebra in the Finals Sunday.
The win enabled San Miguel to wrap up the series, 4-1, taking home the Perpetual Trophy in the process.
For Fajardo, who finished with 21 points and eight rebounds in the series-clinching win, this latest championship was the cherry on top of the team's continued sacrifice to chase history.
"Sobrang nakaka-proud kasi talagang pinaghirapan namin. Before nag-start yung conference, grabe yung sakripisyo namin," he said.
"Sobrang proud ako sa teammates ko dahil pinu-push nila ako para gawin ang best ko," the Kraken added who also made history himself by winning his 5th Best Player of the Conference award, tying a league-record.
In the long history of the PBA, there was a time when winning back-to-back All-Filipino championships was hard enough. In fact, that feat became even rarer than a Grand Slam.
If winning two straight was tough, imagine how near-impossible winning three in a row was.
However, the Beermen found strength with each other, and the team's collective effort, with Fajardo at the center, made it possible for San Miguel to achieve history.
"Kailangan lang namin maglaro as a team. Tiwala lang sa sistema ni coach, tiwala sa isa't-isa," Fajardo said.
"Sa basketball, may ups and downs. Pag nasa taas ka, kailangan mo i-cherish yun. Pag nasa baba ka naman, kailangan mo ng mga taong magch-cheer up sa inyo," he added.
