Charles Rhodes is going to pair up with June Mar Fajardo for the Commissioner's Cup, allowing San Miguel Beer to slide Arwind Santos down to small forward.
It looks like San Miguel is keeping its All-Filipino advantage for the upcoming PBA Commissioner's Cup.
Well at least that's the plan.
Head coach Leo Austria is planning on fielding a big lineup for the mid-season conference with import Charles Rhodes playing alongside three-time league MVP June Mar Fajardo.
The Beermen's other MVP, Arwind Santos, will slide over to the small forward spot.
"We told him kung ano meron yung team. Alam niya na meron kaming JMF, magkakaroon kami ng twin towers then Arwind will slide down to the 3 position para magkaroon kami ng big line-up," Austria said on his thoughts of Rhodes coming in.
One of the top shot-blockers in the Korean league, Austria expects Rhodes, who just arrived early Wednesday morning, to complement his squad.
"Very impressive. Defensive-minded siya, ayaw niya ng nashoo-shootan siya dahil hinahabol niya talaga going to the rim," Austria said.
Coming in to a championship team. Rhodes is aware of the pressure that entails his job.
His confidence in helping San Miguel end its struggles in the Commissioner's Cup is sky high though.
"The bar is high - for any team I would've come to in the Philippines. This is a place I wanted to play in, so wherever I would've went to, I was going to give my one hundred percent," Rhodes said.
"I'm just a ferocious player. I love contact," he said. "I'm just a passionate player, I play with passsion."
