Art Dela Cruz joined Paul Lee and Russel Escoto on the Gilas Pilipinas injured list.
Gilas Pilipinas just suffered its first blow in its buildup for the 2017 SEABA championships.
With camp officially underway with a three-day session in Tagaytay, the national team has lost Art Dela Cruz after the versatile Blackwater forward went down with a bum ankle.
Head coach Chot Reyes confirmed the development on his Twitter account.
Good 1st practice, except for Art dela Cruz hurting his ankle. Hoping & praying it's not serious.— Chot Reyes (@coachot) March 14, 2017
In a report by Fox Sports, resident Gilas Pilipinas trainer Dexter Aseron said that the former San Beda Red Lion may be dealing with a more serious injury.
"Based dun sa MRI, may tear sa Achilles, pero di ko na alam yung official kasi hihintayin pa namin yung reading," Aseron said pero Jason Mercene of Fox.
Dela Cruz's injury comes after Mahindra's Russel Escoto hurt his surgically-repaired knee in the latter part of the 2017 Philippine Cup.
Star's Paul Lee is also out of the pool momentarily after suffering a meniscus tear in his left knee. Allein Maliksi has been called up to serve as his replacement.
